The CRS is a points-based system that ranks eligible candidates in the Express Entry pool. The maximum possible score is 1,200 points, allocated as follows:
Core Human Capital
Up to 500 points for age, education, work experience, and language proficiency.
Skill Transferability
Up to 100 points for factors that facilitate the transfer of skills to Canadian labor market.
Additional Factors
Up to 600 points for job offers, provincial nominations, or Canadian siblings.
Eligible Immigration Programs
Express Entry manages applications for three federal economic immigration programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) – For skilled workers with foreign work experience
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) – For skilled tradespeople with experience in specific occupations
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC) – For skilled workers with Canadian work experience
Provinces and territories can also nominate candidates through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) using Express Entry.
